New month..wow time is passing fast and I haven't updated in a long while!!

Ok so now into August, how time is passing very fast, I havent written for a while as things got a bit hectic.  I had the first class trip which was very successful, we visited several tourist attractions around Phnom Penh and also too the students to a food court in a shopping mall which is a huge treat for them as they can chose what they eat.  It also gave me a chance to show them about the things we had learnt about in class such a napkin, glassware etc

All in all very successful and for the return bus trip back we had some full on Korean and Khmer karaoke!!

I spent the end of July preparing for a trip to Singapore which was firstly intended so that I could attend the graduation of my classmates who studied at Cornell and in Singapore, but also turned out to be a great opportunity to promote EGBOK mission within the hospitality industry and among the regional CHS (Cornell Hotel Society) chapter in Singapore!!!  So I met with several different people who had potential interest in EGBOK Mission so will see where this leads to in the coming months.

Singapore was so very different from Cambodia, for a start it is so clean I was almost afraid of making the streets dirty with my rather worn, dog chewed and nasty smelling flip flops!!!  Also it was kind of funny that friends were asking how I was coping with the heat, my response well Im quite enjoying the AC buildings, but in actual fact I had to switch it off in my hotel room for the first 2 nights as it was far too cold!!!  After living in Cambodia for a month and half with only a fan which only works half of the time because we dont have electricity 24 hours a day, I found Singapore relatively cool with the large shopping centers that are all air-conditioned!!  There were also a few comments about how I was getting dark, which I guess I don't really notice on a daily basis, especially when everyone around you is always darker!! Although I must be looking somewhat tanned because when I returned the children even comment on the shade of my skin!! I wonder how I will look in another 1 and half months!!

So Singapore def let me pacify some of my food cravings especially for cheese (I ate a few pizzas!!) and also some ice cream too!!  There is def endless choice for food in Singapore!!

So I arrive back and its pouring in PP, so I head to my guest house and catch up on work that needs to be done, replying to emails and organizing my second trip to visit hotels and restaurants in PP.  After a number of calls and emails that I followed up, I did it landed the jackpot....Sofitel PP!!!!  Ever since my students have seen pictures of another EGBOK class there, which I was on the trip for, they ask when will we visit Sofitel, so Im really excited for them all to see it for themselves tomorrow!!!

So class continues, Im also doing so extra tutoring for those that want it and life continues at APCA.  Oh new bonus though the large fridge which is outside my room is now switched on and I can use it...this means cold water and also very convenient to have cold milk with my cereal for breakfast :)  Its the small things that make a huge difference sometimes!!  This has made me so happy!!!!

OK so an early start tomorrow for the big trip, better get some shut eye

zzzzzzzz
